I have an external bootable USB hard disk which has a Mandriva partition on it and wanted to try 9.10 in another partition on the same disk, arn through the install and changed the boot loader location to /dev/sde which is the external disk. When it came to boot GRUB is not correctly installed and has ofcourse wiped out my original boot loader from Mandriva.
This is not the first time this has happened, 9.04 Kubuntu also has a very similar problem.
Does anyone know why it cannot install GRUB correctly as requested? Also any ideas on how to fix it preferably via a GUI not command line?
