I am currenly running Ubuntu 9.04 32-bit, and I noticed that the "wobbly windows" effect isn't too smooth when moving the window horizontally. Also, I found out using top that only 2.8 GB of my 4 GB of ram is available for use. I'm guessing the extra RAM won't hurt, so how can I upgrade to 64-bit Ubuntu?

Download the 64 bit version, burn the image to cd and do a nice fresh install.

You can't "upgrade your 32 bit, new install is required.

Thanks for the prompt reply! :D

Is there any way I can transfer all of my preferences to the new install (especially all the numerous settings I made for Compiz)? I really would hate to have to set up all my settings again...

Hi there!
I have similiar question. I've just installed 9.10 32bit Kubuntu and find a little misdisappointing with dinamic memory, so i try to install 64 bit to get access to whole 6 Gb system memory.
But i wanna have an answer how to save all configurations I've made for my 32 bit Kubuntu
thanx
