View Full Version : [SOLVED] Alternative to NetworkManager

Does anyone know of a good alternative to NetworkManager?

What I miss in NetworkManager is the possibility to explicitly connect to a WLan without having to add a configuration every time.
The problem for me is that it often takes several minutes to automatically connect to my WLan, so with 9.04, I helped myself with "Connect to hidden network" and choosing my Auto WLan connection - and then it would connect pretty quick.
But since 9.10 this is not possible anymore - the field to enter the password and the "Connect" button are disabled. So I have to create a new connection every time when I want to connect.

Why is it not possible to just tell NetworkManager to connect to an existing connection instead of having to wait several minutes until it decides to connect to it?
