Hey,

I am a super noob when it comes to Linux, so I need your guy's help. This is probably easy for all of you. If you give me instructions, give them as if you're explaining it to your mom or something... like step-by-step instructions.

Here's the message I'm getting when I go to format:

Failed to unmount partitions
The installer needs to commit changes to partition tables, but cannot do so because partitions on the following mount points could not be unmounted:

/cdrom

Please close any applications using these mount point.

Would you like the installer to try to unmount these partitions again?

I am using unetbootin to format so I don't have a disk or anything. There is nothing in my cdrom drive. :S

Do you by any chance have a Dell?

This seems to be a problem with unetbootin, possibly specific to Dells. See this thread (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1237617&highlight=unmount+%2Fcdrom) for others with the same problem, unfortunately no solution yet except possibly using a normal liveCD.

Can you explain what is it you are trying to do while getting this error. What OS are you running?
