I can install 9.04 no problem.

When I try installing 9.10 64bit it installs fine but then when the system go to boot after the install, no grub menu appears.

It just says Grub. I tried reordering the boot order of drives but then grub can't find the drive to boot.

My setup is:

Drive 1 windows 7
Drive 2 linux backup drive
Drive 3 main linux drive that I use

I also tried super grub but that didn't work. I also tried installing 9.04 and then installing 9.10 without it installing the boot loader but apparently 9.10 requires grub2.

Any help would be appreciated.

Chris

The Ubuntu community doc on GRUB 2 has a section on the G2 command line. There are various ways to try to boot into the system from the grub or grub-rescue prompt. The guide also has a section for reinstalling GRUB 2 if that becomes necessary:

https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Grub2#Command%20Line%20&%20Rescue%20Mode

If you upgrade 9.04 (Grub legacy) to 9.10 it should retain Grub legacy. Karmic does not have to have GRUB 2 to operate properly although it is installed by default on clean installations.
