no dsl internet connection in 9.10

After upgrading from 9.04 to 9.10 I can not connect using dsl. I tried a fresh install with the same result. Any suggestions, if you can not connect you can do nothing.

If you can connect by wireless you can try the suggestion described in the thread below:

It's to add the ppa here which has a fixed version of Network Manager. Some people are saying to uncheck "available to all users" in order to make it work.
