After looking through the forum over the past 3 releases there are recurrent themes. The most prominent seems to be "this didn't work for me, how do I go back to n.nn." How about screen 1 of an install gives a warning, followed by some suggestions as to backing up a system? Perhaps links to partimage and clonezilla with an explanation of the difference.

I know that there are plenty of suggestions sprayed around the forum, plus the release notes, but maybe a warning on screen 1 of the install would make people stop and think. Especially if it gave some suggestions as to readily available software that could solve so many problems.

great idea. we all hear about a backup but 90% most likely don't.

I recomend that you log into

http://brainstorm.ubuntu.com/

this will use your launchpad username and password.
This is the same username for requesting your free ubuntu cd or
signing up for 2GB free online space a.k.a cloud.

expand your idea and the rest of the community will build upon it.

I do agree with you, a backup menu in the boot menu of the cd prehaps.

do come back and post here the link to your brainstorm topic.
