I tried a fresh new install of 9.10 Ubuntu Desktop, both the 32 and 64 bit versions. They run as virtual machines on a MacBook Pro (aluminum unibody, 10 months old), using VMWare Fusion 2.0.6. MacBook is running Leopard (OS X 10.5.8).

In both cases, the start-up sound plays for maybe 0.2 seconds, then cuts out, then sometimes might come back in but is crackly.

8.10 and 9.04 Ubuntu, 64-bit, run just fine on the MacBook Pro with VMWare Fusion. 9.10 is the first version that is broken.

Anyone else with this kind of configuration having problems? This is disappointing.

I'm also having problems with this. I'm trying it on a macbookpro5,3 with Leopard, and VMWare Fusion 2.0.6. When I'm playing a video (any type) it either speeds right through at 60-something-x speed or stalls. On startup, it keeps repeating the sound - like a scratched CD. This link http://communities.vmware.com/ (http://communities.vmware.com/thread/239985?start=0&tstart=0) has some info that I haven't been able to try yet. It doesn't seem like there's been too much discussion on the Ubuntu site yet.
