I'm dual booting Ubuntu 9.04 on my main computer and have a second “play” computer with Ubuntu 9.10 installed on it. I'm new to Linux and trying hard to learn and divorce Windows XP et al.

I have a few questions because I do not want to loose my website favorites and a few other small items.

Problem, my upgrade manager pops up on my main computer with 9.04 installed with upgrades to install, when I click on “install” a window comes up asking for the new 9.10 disk and the listed updated software does not install.

Question:

How do you save your “favorites”.
Having done both on my “play” computer would I be better of with a clean new install of 9.10 or should I just go through the upgrade process, using the window and using “update-manager -d”.
I may be too use to Windows but would a clean install of Ubuntu make it “faster” with less information to read at startup and during normal operation.

I'm a 60 year old Linux noob with two dyslexic typing fingers, please speak clearly using the “Windows” computer dialect.
