I believe Ubuntu is the best Linux for the desktop.
That said... What could Ubuntu learn from Fedora?

There are some things I like about the new version of Fedora:

1- the default colors and icons

2- delta RPMs for updates (http://arstechnica.com/open-source/reviews/2009/10/ars-takes-a-first-look-under-the-hood-of-fedora-12.ars). This means that you only have to download the changes for the updated packages and not the entire package (Can that be done in Ubuntu?)

This is completely subjective.

That's quite cool. I just did some quick Googling and found this:

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/AptSyncInKarmicSpec

I don't know how much of this spec ended up being implemented, but it does include using apt-sync by default in the future if everything goes well with testing.

I know that SuSE had a delta rpm update option many years ago. It's nice to see that is still being used.

optimize for i686 like version 12 will be.

come up with a delta version of apt (but don't make it default).

delta-rpms are great on paper, in practice it depends on your bw if its worth it:
*Installing is slower
*You need a bigger cache

There has been talk about deltas for some time now--I would follow the upcoming UDS to see if it is a topic....
