I just did not like 9.1 and got a couple of problems.

Is there any way to downgrade to 9.04?

Thanks

Basically, no. You need to do a reinstall.

After I "upgraded" to 9.10, my computer will not boot up. I get a blank monitor screen and thats it. Is my only option to re-install 9.04?

Thats going to be a lot of screwing around, is that my only option?

Unless you took a backup prior to upgrading. A reinstall is it.

That's not actually going to be a lot of screwing around. Depends on your point of view. It's an opportunity to learn from experience. For example, here are a couple things to learn:

1) Keep backup. This way, formatting goes down from a screwing-around-experience to a 15 minutes installing (if you install from a USB pen drive) and 15 minutes setting your preferences (themes, applications, updating...), so keep a backup.

2) Do not upgrade. Fresh install. And this is going to be easy if you follow the advice above.

And there's probably more! Both things are going to be useful and the years (and versions of Ubuntu) to come. And now, fresh install is probably your only option. Install the 9.10 version, since upgrades usually don't work, but fresh installs do. Take your chances, at worst, you lose 15 minutes.
