I've recently noticed a couple of cool little features in Ubuntu that maybe people don't know about:
1. Battery recall warning (http://www.geeknewscentral.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/05/screenshot.png)
2. "You are on battery power. Are you sure you want to run Update Manager?"
3. "Ubuntu CD detected. Do you want to start the package manager with this CD?" (I've known about this one for years)
