I had both the gnome and KDE desktops installed on my laptop (studio17).
I upgraded my Jaunty to Karmic and now if I startup I startup using the old KDE splash screen ,after a few seconds I get the startup screen from GRUB again and then the startup splash from Karmic starts and the laptop boots.
So I seem to be booting two times ?

Also the new bluetooth stack doesn't seem to work on my laptop.
I can startup the app with the icon on the tray and if I use my phone the laptop shows up but it doesn't respong with an authentication.
If I try to find the phone (simple nokia) the laptop doesn't find anything.
If I try to find the phone with the saved profile it doesn't find the phone as well.

Also Palimpsest Disk utility reports one of my hard drives in the laptop is dying ??
I've tested the drive in windows and nothing seems to be going on.
Should I start searching for a replacement or is it possible it's a false warning ?

I removed KDE from and now I'm only getting the Karmic startup icon, then the grub message again saying startup is commencing.
Then I get the new progress bar from Karmic, all in all startup takes a lot longer then it did in Jaunty.
Anyone have any ideas ?
