upgrade problem with menu.lst

Hi!

Yesterday I installed the new 9.10 version of ubuntu (upgrade not fresh install). The problem occoured at the end of the installation when questions came about grub. I choose to keep the version I had from before. Now ubuntu will not start. What can I do now to make it all work again? How can I re-write the menu.lst in the editor at bootup? And what do I write/change?

Can you provide more info, like the error message you get. What do you mean by Ubuntu won't start exactly?

Thank you for bothering to write. Allthough it didn't work. I made a clean install and now it works perfectly :)

Only for your information, Karmic uses grub2 which no longer uses a menu.lst. For grub2 it is the grub.cfg.

in the beginning it was question of upgrading in that case grub-legacy is still used. Grub2 is only in case of fresh installation
