I have an HP VGA Webcam, and am running Ununtu version 8.10. I was just wondering how I would go about installing this to my OS.

I referred to this thread:

but... to no avail. I also searched the forums and found nothing already posted on this subject.

I'm starting to think maybe my webcam just isn't compatible with ubuntu's version of 8.10?

Any help at all would be appreciated.

This may not be a help to your situation as it is, but I personally found all my previous hardware compatibility issues solved when I upgraded from Ubuntu 8.10 to 9.04. Right now, I'm using an HP Deluxe Webcam KQ246AA with 9.04 and the OS recognized it no problem. Have you considered upgrading to 9.04? I know this may be swatting at a fly with sledgehammer, but I've just found 9.04 superior to 8.10 almost in every way.
