Hello,
If somebody could tell me how to save a screen resolution I would appreciate it. I prefer my monitor on a lower resolution.

I am using Nvidia's X server. After I choose the correct resolution, I try to save. But then it says "Unable to create new X config backup file '/etc/X11/xorg.conf.backup'."

I have looked around and done some reading. I know the problem has something to do with lacking root control. Regardless, I can't figure out how to save the resolution setting so I don't have to change it every time I turn on the computer.

Again, I am a complete noob and I'm going to assume much of what could be said will go over my head. Thanks
