After a new installation I tried to update the system (update manager.)
Error message: Not enough disk space.
The disk has 2 partitions: 20 Gb (Windows etc) and 220 Gb.
Ubuntu 9.04 was installed through the “side-by-side with Windows” option.
It automatically allocated space for the new partitions (ext3 and swap) on the 220Gb partition; there was no option for me to set the partition size.
Disk janitor, trash etc does not free up the required 300+ Mb of space.
My job is to migrate several systems to Ubuntu.
(1) Is there a way to avoid this problem right from the start?
(2) Can I increase the partition size after installation?
Many thanks!
