View Full Version : [SOLVED] Reinstall Grub or install Grub 2?

Hello all,

I recently installed Windows 7 over my XP/Win7 beta partitions on my dual boot computer, which wiped out my GRUB bootloader. Ordinarily I could re-enable GRUB with the live-cd following a tutorial, but now that I have the option to upgrade to GRUB2, I'm not sure what to do.

Should I pop in a 9.04 live cd and restore grub (which still thinks I'm booting XP/Windows 7 beta), then update to grub 2, or should I put in a 9.10 live cd and install GRUB2 from scratch, configuring it so it sees my Ubuntu Partitions and can chainload Windows 7?

I'm not sure which what to do here! Please help me out, thanks!

EDIT: I asked around on irc, and decided to just restore grub-legacy. That seemed like the simplest option.
