Hi all

I am also having the same problems that the Kubuntu gang are having with sound systems. How do we get it to the Ubuntu developers? This seems like a problem with a number of people. Mine says it can't find the sound card. I am using a Compaq Presario. My output device for music shows as ATI IXP rev 2 with ALC658D (ATI IXP AC97).

As for my display, I can't see any backgrounds. They are listed in the Compiz Settings manager list, but the don't display on any of my 5 desktops.

Also my Grub hasn't updated to 9.10. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Jim

I can't get the background either with 9.10 ( I'm still on live CD) I can see the "quick launch bars" at top and bottom of screen. When I click firefox it launches fills half of screen, then when I click to maximize (I'm using a 22" widescreen) it just goes black (the quick launch bars are still there though). I look at the resolution settings and it doesn't give me many widescreen options. If I change resolution I get background, but icons are too big. So It must be a problem with my old ATI graphics card.
