Upgrading to 9.10 stuck on "fetching file 40 of 1361"

I started the upgrade to 9.10 last night and went to bed with the plan of waking up to Karmic. Instead, I woke up to what I saw last night, "fetching file 40 of 1361". Can anyone explain this? It seems to just be stuck there.

Probably busy servers. Try again tomorrow.

I always upgrade a week before the release as at that time, it is very close to the final release and the servers aren't overloaded.
