i just managed to upgrade from what i thought was ubuntu 9.04 to 9.10 and i seem to have xubuntu now. OK i have a netbook and the power management seems better. i can live with this.
what i cant live with is this

how do i get rid of this desktop menu and go back to having a normal desktop? ie: no menu cover the desktop at all times
