Hi!

I upgraded my 64bit Ubuntu 9.04 to 9.10 this morning. After the upgrade the sounds didn't work anymore. Beforehand sounds worked fine.

Can someone help me?

Some useful information below.

$ aplay -l
aplay: device_list:223: no soundcards found...

$ alsamixer
alsamixer: function snd_ctl_open failed for default: No such file or directory

check your alsa-base.conf file in /etc/modprobe.d

It installs a new alsa-base.conf when it upgrades. I had to re input some settings to get my sound going again

I'm afraid to touch it because I don't understand it. Could someone help me out?

Problem solved. My menu.lst wasn't updated and grub booted the old kernel. So I fixed my menu.lst in /boot/grub. Sounds are working now :D
