Hi,
I just installed the newest version of Xubuntu oon a 4Gig USB stick!
I had partitioned the drive as an EXT4 drive, and it works pretty well!
I also enabled noatime.
My question is, if I can disable journaling, and if it would be wise?
I am running a machine which is hard for me to run multiple OSes from, so booting up from a CDROM is hard.
If possible, is there a solution to run the OS from the USB and from the mounted USB enter a command, or edit some files that with a reboot my EXT4 will no longer have the journaling feat?
I also want to opt for an easier way to disable (or drastically reduce) the disk access. Xubuntu is accessing my USB stick about every 3 seconds.
I want that to go downto every minute or every 5 minutes; but without the need for rebooting!
No unnecessary rubbish on the disk.
Thanks!
