Dear Friends,

I backed up my /home and did a fresh install of Ubuntu 9.10 today.

I installed thunderbird, but when I went to run it, I got a bus error. I simply went back to the synaptic package manager and reinstalled everything. That did the trick.

*** Then the real problems started. *** :(
I went to use thunderbird, and it didn't display properly at all.
(See attached screenshot) I tried to restore my backed up .mozilla-thunderbird and the same thing happened.

Please help!

My best guess would be to remove Thunderbird again, as well as purge it, this would remove all files including configuration pertaining to Thunderbird. Then re-install again.

Ok,

I uninstalled the thunderbird package and thunderbird gnome support....

Then, I went back in and installed just Thunderbird.

Everything works fine now.

Thanks!

Sorry, but I don't know how to mark this as solved.
