When I upgrade will xorg problem resurface?

A few weeks ago, a normal update through the update manager rendered my external monitor with a black screen after the update.

I did some research - I'm basically a novice - and found some information about reverting to the previous xorg.xxxx.xxxx.xxx? version. I did that and it worked. Since then, I have unchecked that update each time.

My question is will that happen again, and if so, I do not remember the way to revert back. If anyone remembers that, please let me know. I'll save the information until I update.

I've been using 9.10 with an external monitor without issues, It's hard to say whether you'll experience the problem after the upgrade since there are many things that might have caused it specific to you and your setup.
