Hi, Im planning on installing 9.10 on my laptop, but dont know which version to install. Currently im dual booting Vista and OpenSUSE 11.1, both 32 bit. I think my processor supports 64 bit, so will installing the 64 bit version give me better performance? What are the advantages?

My Laptop specs are:
Model- Toshiba Satellite L300D
System Type- X86-based PC
Processor- AMD Turion(tm) X2 Dual-Core Mobile RM-70, 2000
Mhz, 2 Core(s), 2 Logical Processor(s)
Installed Physical Memory (RAM)- 3.00 GB

Thanks for your help, cant wait to start using it :D

I've been using ubuntu desktop 64, works perfectly. I recommend it.
Good luck.

I'd download and install the 64-bit if the processor can use it, but technically speaking you don't need it because the system has less than 4GB of memory. Either one will work. Cheers!

what about if your processor is an intel core-2 duo? the name of the file says "amd64", so i'm worried if it will support it

AMD64 is referring to the architecture not the actual processor. Intel processors that are 64-bit use the AMD64 architecture, also known as x86-64.

Some additional info: AMD was to make the 64 bit architecture, but I think they should rename to Ubuntu x86_64, instead of Ubuntu amd64. It is making people asking so many questions!
