Trackpoint scrolling and Karmic

So I updated to Karmic Koala today (it's great). I'm having one problem though: I can't scroll with my trackpoint. I've found plenty of solutions, I'm not sure what to do though.

I read the that HAL is being depreceated, wo when I read this (http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/How_to_configure_the_TrackPoint#Configuration_usin g_Gnome) at thinkwiki, I'm not sure what to do. I've also looked at configure-trackpoint but it's not in the repos so I'd like to avoid it if possible.
