Hi there I have not used Ubuntu since 7.10. I have just installed 9.04 and I am having some issues with my resolution. I have a nVidia GeForce4 MX 440, and have installed the restricted drivers and I can set my resolution to 1360x768, I have a Acer x183H monitor and its resolution should be 1366x768. When I set it to 1360x768 it looks ok but I still have to play with the clock and focus. The problem is that I am missing about and inch or so from the right side of the screen (it is cut off about in the "c" in October in the date.

I have tried to change it but I have not played with Ubuntu for over a year and I think I need some help.....:p

I have a similiar problem. If your find anything, please tell me! Yesterday I installed Karmic, couldn't use the Acer monitor, glad I have another monitor! Eventually I did some fiddling around and got it to work, but as I was telling a work colleague today (another Ubuntu in general and new Karmic user), I don't know what I did! :( The resolution I used to have a decent-looking display, though, was around 1240 x 950 if I recall... Otherwise the images were distorted (circles became flattened).

Same problem for me with the X183H monitor. I'm missing about one inch when it set to 1360x768 with Ubuntu 9.04 or 9.10, Nvidia driver 173 or 180. I don't have this problem under windows XP

I've been able to get the monitor working properly with the native driver of Ubuntu but obviously I don't have the 3d acceleration of my Nvidia graphic card. I can set 1366 x 768 but it looks better with 1360 x 768. Anything else to do with the Nvidia driver? Does somebody have better result with Ati grafic card?
