View Full Version : Can you dualboot 64 bit ubuntu and 32 bit windows?

i was just wondering if grub would let me dualboot 32 bit windows and 64 bit ubuntu? my processor is 64 bit but i coulnd't install 64 bit windows 7 because my vista was 32 bit and the upgrade doesn't work like that

I have 64-bit ubuntu and 32-bit Windows 7.

It works fine.

ok thanks is there any benefit to 64 bit ubuntu if i only have 2gb ram? my processor is an anthlon x2 series

Yes, you can. There is something about having 32 bit version of GRUB and 64 bit OS's, but as far as I can remember, it was nonsense.

Anyway, it's fine, it's possible.

I do this all the time, so yes.

As far as benefits from 64-bit Ubuntu goes, I haven't felt anything but more annoying 'getlibs' workarounds and slower performance from emulators, not to mention unavailability of services (boxee).

I dual-boot Ubuntu 64-bit and windows XP 32-bit. Never have a problem.
