Hi everyone,

I've been running Ubuntu 9.04 on my Lenovo Thinkpad R60e, and I decided to have a look at KDE and Xfce. So, I installed the kubuntu- and xubuntu-desktop packages via Synaptic, logged out, and had a play around.

However, it broke my sound. I uninstalled all the newly installed packages and went back plain Gnome-based Ubuntu, but all I get is silence no matter what program I use to play sound.

Since I don't have a hifi or a DVD player, I really do need sound on my laptop.

The SoundTroubleshooting (https://help.ubuntu.com/community/SoundTroubleshooting) says to use alsa-info.sh, and you can find my information here (http://www.alsa-project.org/db/?f=c3395101f4ce8b38fede4e431849d9e07bd764b5).

I'll provide what information I can, but I know basically nothing about how sound works on Linux, so feel free to talk to me in baby speak!
