It's in synaptic as 'desktop-switcher'. Be careful however, one big problem I've noticed is that in Desktop mode, there are no "open", "close" or "minimize" buttons on windows. This is by design in Launcher mode as all windows are opened and closed in the top of the page using Launcher. In Desktop mode however, this SHOULD be reconfigured to display these buttons and it doesn't. I just don't know where to post this problem.

Try typing 'switcher' by itself. Also, make sure you have this repository set up: http://archive.canonical.com/ubuntu

If you can't find it, you can get it here: https://launchpad.net/desktop-switcher

from what i can tell it looks like the desktop switcher does not work very well with Koala, is there a way of switching to ubuntu desktop through a command line so i can try it out and if i dont like it i can remove the command line ?
