Would someone please tell me how to get rid of the message ntldr missing when i try to boot windows xp from the grub boot menu.i hope that my partitions are not messed up.

yeah - put ntldr back.
just boot to your xp disc and rescue (or whatever)..it'll reinstall ntldr for you.
But this will muck up your grub as winxp will re-write MBR and not see your linux install.
You can actually just get ntldr from your xp disc.

thanks.thanks a lot.that was the message being displayed.problem is. my friend.to whom i gave the ubuntu cd is the adventurous type and played with partitions and screwed up a couple of files.he does'nt have the win xp cd.will the boot floppy do?

I think it's the last floppy - there are 6 for winxp.
Dood - it's been a while, don't take my word for it - but check anyway.
I don't have the floppies anymore else I'd check for ya.
I'm pretty sure there are sites offering ntldr for download -- look around, but there are 3 or 4 other files you may need as well.

will pass on the info.see if that helps.i know that partition sizes have been changed.maybe the files been misplaced or something.
