mp3 decoder and asf demuxer in ubuntu 9.04

Hi, so it's very possible that I could be asking a very over-asked question, but I haven't been able to find the answer on google anywhere. How do I play either movies or mp3s in ubuntu 9.04? I'm asked for an mp3 decoder and an asf demuxer. If I could be directed to either of these two things I would be very much appreciative.

Go to Synaptic and load the appropriate of 'ubuntu-restricted-extras', 'kubuntu-restricted-extras', or 'xubuntu-restricted-extras' with the Medibuntu repository enabled.
