I have problems when I play Youtube videos in full screen.
I found this small program that can play the videos with no freezing or choppy playback.

It is a KDE based program, but It works well in Ubuntu Karmic Koala.

It won't play for me either on Karmic running KDE. But it looks awesome.

I really hope this ends up in the Ubuntu Software Center someday, seeing as how the Youtube plugin for Totem seems to be broken, and although flash playback is improved in Karmic, having a native client would be great for PPC users who would otherwise need to use Gnash.

Tried the official Karmic DEB from here https://launchpad.net/~neversfelde/+archive/ppa/+packages and it only displays a description where the video should be playing.

So, I agree that it would be awesome, just so long as it actually functions. Won't play videos for me, either. :\

Maybe it's the default video settings which cannot be changed in the program that are off?

What do you think?
Does it work better than playing the same video in the web browser?

depending on the browser, but if its pure loading and choppiness, then yes its a good replacement. but i noticed that some the results seems not to be showing all available videos.

video seems also sometimes have different hues and colors...:D

Running Arch, I found that I needed all the gstreamer plugins for it to work. A really cool app, though.

I got it working on karmic by installing
through synaptic the
Phonon GStreamer 0.10.x backend
package as well.

It works for about 4 or 5 clips, then it freezes or loses the sound.

I still like the app and use it all the time, closing and reopening it.

There is a Firefox extension, called GoogleTube (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/8049), that might work better for you. It works great here.

Hi, there.
Using Lucid Lynx now.

Minitube is still the only way to watch Youtube videos without complications (no slow playback, good performance in full screen etc).
