I have very limited space on my MSI Wind netbook for my xubuntu partition so I tried to be a little bit clever and tried to get rid of old kernel images from my xubuntu setup.

What it did was mess up my xfce or something so I don't see the wireless icon in the tray or have a reboot button (the reboot button points to exit of xfce panel which results in a crash and reload of the panel instead)

any ideas... would be grateful...

I had removed fortune-mod (I wanted to remove games so in synaptic I cliked on games and amusement from the list on the left and fortune-mod was there)... Apparently it removed package xfce so later although it appeared it booted into the desktop manager however some underlying communication/process/etc must have gone missing. (Thus i did a re-install... luckily wireless connects by default otherwise the wireless network logo was also missing from the top bar)
