Can't revert back to KDE 4.2

I seem to have gotten myself in a bit of a pickle.

I decided yesterday that it was a good time to use KDE 4.3. So I upgraded to Jaunty. KDE 4.2 started up perfectly. Then I added the PPAs for KDE 4.3. So far so good. I did a sudo apt-get update and then did a sudo apt-get dist-upgrade. Whoops! kde-workspace-bin is corrupted. So I tried to do a sudo apt-get autoremove kubuntu-desktop. That only removed the meta. So I did a sudo apt-get remove kde*. That removed it, but now I can't go back to my old 4.2 setup. I can't really tell what's going on here, but here's what the terminal spat out:

From what I see is that it's telling me that it is not going to install the packages I need, as they're corrupted somehow. And yes, I removed the PPAs I installed from the sources.list.

Anyone know what's going on?

EDIT: I'm gonna be playing Quake for a while, so I won't respond instantly, or be online for that matter.

The easiest way to get a working KDE 4.3 might be to upgrade to Kubuntu 9.10; it's between release candidate & final today.

A less gonzo approach might be to try:


apt-get clean
apt-get update
apt-get install kubuntu-desktop --fix-broken

but that might or might not fix it.

I think I'm gonna hold back until Karmic. Although I will try your fix once I get home later today.
