Help Insatall Ubuntu 9.04

I am having a hard time installing Ubuntu.I get the language selection screen the menu page and then it just flashes in the upper left corner.I have tried re burning the cd and installing thru windows.When I did it thru windows and selected Ubuntu it hangs.I tried the text version and same thing.I read that it may be a video card issue but mine seems to be supported(Ati radeon 4600). Any help would be greatly appreciated

Is there anything other than flashing? Error messages or anything?

One of the 1st things to check is your cd.

Ensure you burn at 4X speed (or slower) - many people report 'funnies' at higher speeds.

Next, check your md5 checksum on the disc.

Ok so I re-downloaded and burnt at 1x speed and nothing

I tried using noapic and nolapic

and this is what I got

0.00000 BIOS bug ,no explicit irq entires,user default mptable

2.449405 IO apic resources could not be allocated


then it hangs

any ideas?
