You need to set the background of your top panel by right-clicking on it, and selecting properties, and then selecting the background tab, find the directory where you installed the themes (eg home/username/themes/mac4lin-graphite/ and select the panel-bng.png file and you panels will look like a mac.

You are supposed to have a top panel and not supposted to remove the top panel.

That the way the AWN bar works in ubuntu, although you are supposed to remove the bottom panel.

thanks for answer.
First thing I solved by installing globalMenu and removing Gnome menu from top pannel.
Then I removed bottom pane as you said.

Additionally I would recommend using Cairo-Dock over AWN, in my opinion it is far better in terms of style and usability. In the screenshot you can see my dock, I use a theme from gnomelook: http://www.gnome-look.org/content/show.php/Mac+OSX+Leopard+Cairo-Dock+theme?content=72085
It shows both application launchers and open windows. Give it a try and tell me what you think. :)

Oh I almost forgot, Cairo also lets you change the icons of your dock items, I think it's great.

but I would recommend the default MacOSX theme present in the Theme Manager of Cairo-Dock, not the one on gnome-loog.org.

What is gnome-loog.org? Did you mean gnome-look.org? :P

Are you sure it is not that one? I only got the default with it, can you post a screenshot how it looks different?

A pic of my Mac4lin desktop!

Using Cairo rather than Awn and followed the instructions in the link below.

Have not bothered doing the Grub screens but everything else just WORKS and in my opinion it looks good!

Yea, it looks good.

How did you get the top menu working without messing up your xorg.conf file and thus messing up gnome entirely ?
