Hi,

I am using 9.04 live cd in the middle of trying to install Ubuntu 9.04 instead of Ubuntu 8.04 on a dual boot system with Windows Vista. My system is set up as in the screenshot install1.gif. When i reach the next screen having clicked specify partition manually (install2.gif) I am completely lost as to what to do next. Have googled and searched in vain for a really simple explanation of how to proceed safely without losing vista. Any help greatly appreciated.

Hi, if you are wanting to install 9.04 and format your 8.04 install when you are at the manually partitioning screen choose "/dev/sda5" and select "edit partition" then set the mount point to / and select the option to use the partition as ext3 , then tick the box next to format (make sure you have backed up all your important data as this will wipe the partition clean) then proceed with the install.
