So I kind of complained that I couldn't see the movie site for http://www.joekidonastingray.com/ (http://www.joekidonastingray.com/)- the response:

The Joe Kid site uses the latest Flash technology, unfortunately if one or two people can't view the site because they are on a system that is not able to display then that is an allowable margin on our part. I have asked Macromedia when they think that they will have the Flash 8 plugin available for Linux and will let you know as soon as I know.
Sorry for the inconvenience.

So. Want. To go off.
Never mind the one or two people comment, what I want to know is -
What is it 8 does that 7 doesn't that this movie site needs?
Sorry. I had to get the Flash rant off my chest. [-(

Yeah, Macromedia needs a Darlek to exterminate them for being lazy on the new release of Flash 8 for Linux.

Macromedia won't release flash 8 for linux, I read they will work on flash 8.5 so the release fits with win flash 8.5.

Too bad Gnash (http://www.gnu.org/software/gnash/) isn't flash 8 compatible.

You posted this elsewhere, too, so I'll mirror my response:
The "express install" sounds worrying. If a site wants to be able to install and execute programs on your computer without your permission or interaction....you probably don't want to be there anyway.

IMO, If a site doesn't work in linux/firefox or whatever, SCREW IT! I don't care if your site won't work for me, it's probably not that great of a site anyway. I don't need to see a site that won't work in linux. poo-poo for them, they've lost a potential visitor/customer/whatever.

There's nothing worse on the internet than a page that uses flash exclusively.
Flash is good for nothing other than animations or movies, and it annoys me more than anything when I find entire sites made using flash.

That attitude is what seperates long term Linxu desktop users from those that try it and go back to Windows in a month.
Sometimes you just have to deal with the fact you are going to make sacrifices.
Personally I'm sure that we would have Flash 8 if Adobe would not have bought them out.
Adobe seems to have a negative attitude about Linux....
