I installed the RC of ubuntu 9.10 and messed up on some user permissions so I can no longer use my sudo password.
Normally on older *buntu versions I could just press <ESC> and choose the recovery mode to fix my machine. But now, using 9.10 RC, there is no menu or any hint that there is even a recovery mode.

Surprisingly, there are no forums or blogs about this yet.

Edit: Thanks ikt, that's what I was looking for.
It's not very intuitive, but it's much cleaner.

Cheers.

Try holding down/hitting the shift key.

I hit left shift key but I got something like that:http://pl.tinypic.com/view.php?pic=2ho9pbr&s=4

I assume it is some kind of a problem with graphic card (Sapphire Radeon HD4670 Ultimate), because I've had many issues with it so far and can't make it work correctly with ubuntu.

Could somebody please help me and tell how to get to recovery mode?
