I've tried installing Ubuntu 9.04 and 9.10 and have the same problem. The boot disc loads I can scroll through the menu and use all the F key options but once I select Check Memory or Install or any of the options it freezes up and does nothing... The disc drive just sits and repeatedly tries to read the disc with nothing changing on screen and will continue to do that regardless of how long it sits for... I'm trying the 9.10 alternate disc next currently waiting for it download.

I got the WUBI to work when I told it to install Ubuntu as a windows program but otherwise it doesn't work.

My Laptop is from January of 2004 it is the first 64bit laptop ever made :P

BIOS v.2.04a

currently has Windows Vista Business 32bit(don't ask long story)

Try to install from CD and burn it at the lowest speed.

I had the same problem, solved by doing what I have just said.

try and let us know!

Install worked from the 9.10 alternate disc.
