I've noticed that I can't switch consoles on my Ubuntu Jaunty install. I read that you use Ctrl + Alt + F1, F2, etc. to switch to another console. I seem to remember that this is how it worked in Red Hat as well, back when I was first trying to learn linux.

This isn't working for me. Could it be because I have a wireless keyboard mouse/combo? That's the only thing I could think of. I don't believe it's working on my Xubuntu install either.

I've tried different key combinations, but nothing works.

On my keyboard, my "F" keys also have other functions when the F lock is turned on, and when it's on, things like CTRL+ALT+F1 don't work as intended.

Could it be that your keyboard also has a function lock that is turned on? Look for a key labeled "F Lock" or something similar and if it exists, toggle it and try again.

That did it! I had no idea--not used to these fancy new keyboards. ;)
