I had an update notification ready for me this morning when I turned on my laptop. I went ahead and followed the prompt to install the updates.
I then got a message, " E: Could not get lock /var/cache/apt/archives/lock - open (11 Resource temporarily unavailable) E: Unable to lock the download directory"
I googled and saw only this thread: http://ubuntuforums.org/archive/index.php/t-157896.html
It had the user rebooting and/or removing some file in some lock folder.
I rebooted.
It then seemed to work.
