Almost as big of a scandal as when Bill Gates was spotted using a MacBook.

Torvalds approves.

But in the end Linus surprisingly did not buy a copy. Wise man!

I understand the intended humor, but I would imagine that Mr. Torvalds indeed has at least one computer running Windows 7.

I would like to point out what I have long suspected. Socks and sandals are cool and comfortable, and all you haters need to get with the program.

ah that explains it!

But see they weren't illegal copies of Win 7 Shibblet! *waits for reply! hehe*

Probably. I can't imagine that he isn't at least remotely interested in what Microsoft is doing with Windows 7. Same with Apple, or really any comparable project.

Giant Speck

I dont see why.

You don't see why Linus Torvalds would use a competitor's operating system? If I was in his position, contributing to major projects directly in competition with Microsoft and Apple, I'd at least want to see firsthand how their products stack up to the projects I am contributing to. I'd like to have my opinions about those operating systems to be up-to-date and relevant.

Likewise, I wouldn't doubt it if Bill Gates had at least one computer running OS X or some flavor of Linux.

Technically, those are not sandals he's wearing.

LOL.

Nice one!

It remembers me this image:

But Linus's one is much better.

Well yeah; Linus's picture isn't libelous.

Wow, he really has lost some weight. Must be since the kernel's got so many speed improvements lately. XD

And a reply you shall have! I didn't know that was Linus. That's a lot more funny than illegal copies.

I'm not sure Linus sees them as competition to be honest. I don't think he ever really bought in wholeheartedly to the "us versus them" or the "down with the man!" mentality. He just wants to make useful and interesting software, specifically a kernel.

Now that's a bad choice of words. Linus doesn't hate MS or Windows. He just doesn't care.
There was that whole "M$ Hatred is a disease" quote from him.

I don't see why there has to be MS hate for that to be sarcasm. That screams sarcasm to me, he doesn't have to hate Windows for that. The bottom quote just makes it funny.

If he didn't have Windows 7 or a Mac, I would be surprised since you can always get good ideas or see what someone else did. If I did more development of a lower level or even interfacing with OS then I'd probably have a dual boot and try stuff out in my area of interest.

What is sarcastic in that picture is that Linus Torvalds is "promoting" Windows 7. The words under it are out of place because they try to link Linus as the person that uses sarcasm to "force" himself to take that picture and promote Windows 7, or the other interpretation, as the MS hater loving Windows because Linus is "promoting" it . And that is completely opposite of what Linus personally beliefs (or has at least expressed in public) about Windows and MS.

I didn't realise that was him either. Don't feel alone!

This picture makes me so happy. I wish I had people I could share it with outside of my parents.

You have to wonder how he feels about Mac though...someone go interview him! :P

LOL. I don't think I could pick Steve Jobs out of a crowd either. I'd probably find Waldo first.

Bill the Gates, I can easily find. I think the only person splattered across the TV more than Gates is Trump, and that's because he has an ego to feed.

Seeing as Linus' main interaction is with the kernel, I don't see any reason why he would need to have either Windows or Mac running. He may, he may not. But I doubt he would HAVE to. It's not like he's working for Gnome or KDE.

Not sure if this was already posted...pretty cool on Linus's part (sarcastic or not).
Is that really him? I dont recall what he looks like.

No surprise here, Torvalds really isn't extreme.

I want to see what RMS would do if he was there, especially if he saw Linus giving Windows 7 the thumbs up.
