Coincidence, or conspiracy?

Windows 7 is out today, and the Ubuntu counter says 7 days until 9.10 comes out!

I'll take number one, thank you.

Conspiracy. Microsoft is undergoing talks with Canonical to buy them out.

I'm suprised everyone is still here.

I thought Linux and the entire Linux community was supposed to disappear in a puff of smoke today because Windows 7 is out.;)

Don't you mean Vista SP3?

Don't you mean Vista SP3?

They should have released it as a service pack but I think they wanted to get away from all the negativity related to Vista.

They could have at least done what Apple did with 10.6 though and charged £15 or whatever it was for it.

Anyways the RC is out today so I'll be upgrading the house to Karmic tonight. - Can't wait always a fun time. (Yes I'm sad! :) )

I've just watched the news and heard a guy saying he would definitely buy it because "it has the most advance technology in the world". :confused: Shouldn't the news program editor cut this comment out?

Unless I had a super computer with lots of RAM. But I only had an old notebook running happily with Linux so I don't know whats all the fuss?

My only-bought-it-this-year netbook can't even run Windows 7. Not enough RAM and not enough storage space. And Windows 7 is meant to be "perfect" for netbooks. Pull the other one.

Standard netbooks have a 1.6 Ghz Atom CPU, 1 GB RAM and a 160 GB drive. According to just about all professional reviews and tests, W7 works well on such netbooks. I haven't tried it myself since I only have one W7 license, and besides, my netbook works fine with XP (after reading about sound, mic and hibernate issues with Ubuntu and the same model, I decided to resist the temptation to toy around).

Subtract the two digits in Karmic Koalas realease date their absolute value is 7!

abs( 2 - 9 ) = 7

Multiply the version numbers and add the digits in the result, then add the digits in that result;

7 * 910 = 6370

6 + 3 + 7 + 0= 16

1 + 6 = 7!

Take the product of the version numbers again and just factor it, you get

7 * 910 = 6370

6370 = 2 * 5 * 7 * 7 * 13

two 7's!

The 2 and 5 course add up to 7!

About the 13;

If you factor Windows 7 release date and add the factors;

22 = 2*11

2+11 = 13!

If you multiply the version numbers of Karmic Koala, factor and add the factors guess what?

9*10 = 90

90 = 2 * 3 * 3 * 5

2 + 3 + 3+ 5 = 13!

Can this all possibly just be pure chance??

Don't forget, Microsoft has graciously "defined" for us what a Netbook is!

ScreenSize: 10.2" or smaller
Memory: 1 GB RAM maximum
Storage: No more than 250 GB HDD or 64 GB SDD
Graphics: No limitation
Touch: No limitation
CPU: Single core processors that do not exceed 2GHz and have a CPU thermal design power less than or equal to 15 W, not including the graphics and chipset.

Which is comical, because that's the minimum RAM for Windows 7 (1 GB), so they are already trying to cripple the Netbook market in favor of the Laptop market where they have an edge.

loll Probably both! Now seriously when are OEM's going to tell Microsoft to screw off with the Netbook restriction? By now we should have a dual core Netbook with 2GB of Ram and if most OEM's had any guts they put Linux back on a line of upgraded Netbook and dare Microsoft to keep their restriction in place! It bound to happen because sooner or later somebody in the industry will want to have a better product than his competitors.

Also, there are 11 letters in Karmic Koala, and Karmic Koala happens to be the 11th release of Ubuntu:

11 + 11 = 22 = the release date for Windows 7!

Ubuntu is a sell out just like Novell. ;)
