9.04 won't see hard drive to install.

Hi, I'm trying to do a clean install on a mate's PC. Gparted won't see the hard drive to partition. I remember it was a sata 1 drive but surely Ubuntu has the drivers or do I need to install the drivers first?
I'm not sure of the chipset yet but I'll find out in the next few days.

If Gparted can't read a drive it's usually filesystem/partition set-up related rather than hardware related.

From the Live CD open a Terminal and type...


sudo fdisk -l

... and post the results.
