Has b0rked firefox

Can anyone please help sort this out ? I have lost all menus and addressbar. I googled this problem and it said to open in terminal and enter

firefox safe-mode

Which should apparently enter safe mode and then I could switch off various plugins etc.

But does that work ?

Oh yes... It opens firefox and takes me straight to safemode.com ?

Very clever !! (NOT)

I have used synaptic and completely removed (copying bookmarks to store) and then fresh re-installed ..all to no avail.

Help.. pwetty please. I am currently using Opera which works great but I hate the default look and can't suss out how to have a bookmarks toolbar.

here's the screeny of firefox

You need to remove your profile. It usually resides in your home directory under /.mozilla/firefox/. Then restart FF and you'll have to reinstall all your plugins etc ..
