I've been running the 32-bit version of Ubuntu 9.04 and I am thinking of switching to the 64-bit version when I upgrade to the 9.10 release. Is this possible through the update manager?

Thanks!

In short -- NO. You can not "upgrade" from 32-bit to 64-bit, or vice-versa. You have to do a clean install in either case.

agreed to MarkPhelps response...for architecture changes you must do a clean ugrade meaning backup all your files, documents etc and perform a fresh install like you did the first time for your 32bit version.
