View Full Version : [ubuntu] Grub loading error 21

rhigh44
October 20th, 2009, 02:47 PM
I've searched the forums and tried using the following commands but still getting the same error:

sudo grub
find /boot/grub/stage1
(hd1,0)
root (hd1,0)
setup (hd1)

I've tried setup (hd1,0), setup (hd0). Still getting the error 21. I've included an output file when I ran the boot_info_script program.

Hope this helps in suggesting how to troubleshoot this .

Grub Error 21 means "Can not find disk"

maybe your bios does not recognize your disk, or the Slave-master thingie is not set right.

I think that more info are also needed on what caused this, and on if your ubuntu installation worked before.

then again

=> Grub0.97 is installed in the MBR of /dev/sda and looks on boot drive #2 in
partition #1 for /boot/grub/stage2 and /boot/grub/menu.lst.
=> Grub0.97 is installed in the MBR of /dev/sdb and looks on the same drive
in partition #1 for /boot/grub/stage2 and /boot/grub/menu.lst.
=> Windows is installed in the MBR of /dev/sdc

but your 1st and 3rd hdd are ntfs and the second is ext3. I dunno if this is right, should look into it
